Only elegance of form, exactness of design, honesty of materials and dedicated skill can produce furniture that will be of lasting benefit to us and our environment. 

There can be no sustainable or ecologically sound furniture without durability: to be durable it must be constructed with the best materials and methods. 

Likewise, it must be desirable or it will soon be replaced: desirability means a higher likelihood of being cared for and repaired and lasting for generations.

Charles  Tepasse’s first experience as a furniture-maker was making a framed and panelled pine chest with a family friend, aged 16. Before committing his life to the craft, Charles received a scholarship to attend the Royal Drawing School where he refined his draughtsmanship and was awarded the Machin Art Foundation Award for excellence in figurative painting.

Spending countless hours in the British Museum, National Gallery and Tate Modern has richly informed his creative process, providing him with a unique perspective on the craft of furniture-making through his appreciation, study and deconstruction of great art made throughout the ages.

Charles later came to be apprenticed to Parham College alumnus, Bim Burton, who instilled in him a love for and understanding of solid wood, its incredible properties and the beautiful trees from which it is sourced.

Charles has since produced many fine pieces of bespoke furniture for architects, designers, artists and other private clients, as well as having completed restoration work for Sands & Randal.
