The design of the Production Bed No.1 began with the desire for a visually low-profile platform bed with a focus on durability, simplicity, hygiene, and the sensual and tactile nature of solid wood. 

Made entirely from Douglas fir which has a beautifully deep and rich colour and an incredible weight to strength ratio. Its flat surface makes it easy to clean whilst providing exceptional air flow and an excellent foundation for those who enjoy a firm sleeping position. 

No glue or permanent fixings are used in its construction, just traditional joinery. The frame simply slots together into stopped-housed-halvings, six wooden wedges lock the platform together, and wooden buttons hold the planks to the frame and allow the wood to move with its natural expansion and contraction.

This simplicity of construction makes it easy to assemble/disassemble in under 10 minutes, without extra tools or fixings.

Provided it is not used outside, Production Bed No. 1 should last for generations.
